Mo'omomi Preserve
Sand Dunes on Moloka'i's north coast
I headed north and west from Moloka'i's one-stop-sign main town of Kaunakakai to the Mo'omomi Preserve, a beautiful natural area featuring sand dunes and lithified sandstone cliffs. If you drive through Ho'olehua then head west you'll eventually find yourself on a red dirt road which will end at a gate. You are not supposed to enter the preserve without permission (guided tours are occasionally available).
When I was on Moloka'i there were no tours available so I headed in by myself. I was the only person in the entire park, and it was a gorgeous and desolate place.
